We are committed to providing safe, effective, and enjoyable training and walking services for you and your dog.
Please carefully read the following terms, which apply to all bookings.

Purpose of Services
-
At Tails Solutions, our mission is to help you and your dog build clear communication, emotional balance, and practical life skills through force-free, science-based methods. We focus on understanding your dog’s unique needs, supporting their well-being, and helping you navigate challenges together — whether that’s improving confidence, reducing reactivity, or simply making everyday life more enjoyable.
-
While we provide expertise in behaviour and training, we also recognize that some behavioural changes may be influenced by underlying physical discomfort or health conditions. In these cases, we may recommend consulting a veterinarian to ensure your dog’s physical needs are addressed alongside training.
-
Scope: Training and behaviour support only. No grooming or medical procedures are performed during sessions.
Bookings & Payments
-
All services at Tails Solutions require a Behaviour Assessment before training or walking begins.
The assessment allows us to understand your dog’s background, temperament, triggers, and environment, ensuring that every plan is customized for your dog’s emotional and behavioural needs. -
This requirement applies to all services, including puppy training, reactivity programs, confidence and handling work, and behavioural walks.
The only exception is the free Meet & Fit Call, which is a short introductory video conversation to help determine readiness for an assessment. -
Payment in full is required before services begin and can be made via e-transfer or secure online payment (processing fees may apply).
-
For longer programs (12–16 weeks), payment plans may be arranged in writing before training begins.
Prices are subject to change, but confirmed bookings always honour the agreed rate at the time of purchase.
Cancellations, Rescheduling & No-Shows
-
You may reschedule an appointment up to 3 hours before the scheduled time without penalty.
Late cancellations or no-shows within 3 hours of the session start time will be marked as completed and are non-refundable. -
In the case of emergencies (medical, family, or severe weather), please contact us directly — we’ll do our best to accommodate a fair solution.
-
Repeated same-day reschedules (more than twice per package) may be limited to preserve scheduling fairness and trainer availability.
Travel, Parking & Access
-
Sessions occur within my service area (Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge; approx. 40-minute one-way radius).
-
Provide safe access, entry codes, and parking instructions.
-
If a clinic, groomer, condo, or garage requires paid parking or entry, the cost is billed at actual cost with receipt. I’ll choose the least costly safe option and confirm in advance if the expected fee exceeds $10 CAD.
Refund Policy
-
Refunds are available before the first session only, minus any processing fees.
Once a plan has begun, payments are non-refundable but may be credited toward future services at the trainer’s discretion. -
Package sessions must be completed within the validity period listed for each service:
-
4-week packages → valid for 2 months
-
6- to 8-week packages → valid for 3 months
-
12- to 16-week packages → valid for 4 months
-
On-demand or follow-up sessions included in your program must be used within 1–2 months after program completion (as specified for each service).
-
Packages are non-transferable between dogs or owners.
Health, Behavior & Owner Responsibility
-
You must disclose any health conditions, injuries, or behavioral issues (including aggression, fear, or reactivity) before services begin.
-
Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations and parasite prevention.
-
If your dog is unwell, has diarrhea, vomiting, or contagious illness, please reschedule — no penalty.
-
You, as the owner or guardian, remain fully responsible for your dog’s behavior, safety, and management, including providing appropriate equipment (collar, harness, leash, etc.).
Safety During Sessions
-
For in-home sessions, please ensure the environment is safe, calm, and free from hazards.
-
Dogs should be on a leash when meeting your trainer, in cases of aggression, reactivity, or overexcitement, unless instructed otherwise.
-
If there is any risk to the safety of the dog, trainer, household, or public, the session may be paused or ended at the trainer’s discretion.
-
Children or other family members are welcome to attend, but must be supervised by an adult.
-
Dogs must wear secure equipment (flat collar and/or well-fitted harness).
-
Not permitted: prong/pinch collars, electronic/e-collars (static/vibration/tone), head halters (e.g., Halti/Gentle Leader), choke chains/slip collars used as a choke, and retractable leashes.
-
A muzzle may be required if appropriate.
-
I may pause or end a session if conditions are unsafe for your dog, people, or the public.
Weather & Environmental Policy
-
Outdoor sessions and walks continue in most weather conditions (rain, snow, or mild cold).
Sessions will be rescheduled in cases of extreme weather (heat warnings, thunderstorms, or ice storms). -
For Behavioural Walks, environmental overload (e.g., unexpected events, construction, or high trigger density) may also be cause for rescheduling to ensure the dog’s emotional welfare and learning safety.
-
Safety and welfare always come first.
Liability Release
-
Tails Solutions uses only force-free, science-based methods and takes all reasonable precautions during training and walking services.
-
Training outcomes depend on many factors, including the dog’s age, genetics, history, and the owner’s consistency with the training plan. While specific results or timelines cannot be guaranteed, many behaviours can be improved or successfully managed through the consistent application of force-free methods.
-
By booking, you acknowledge that you are responsible for following training plans, managing your dog’s environment, and maintaining their safety and well-being.
-
While we cannot promise to “fix” behavioural issues, we are committed to doing our best to help improve your dog’s quality of life, increase understanding between you and your dog, and support a happier, more relaxed household.
-
Tails Solutions is not liable for injury, loss, or damage caused by your dog during, before, or after services.
Health, Behaviour & Owner Responsibility
-
You must disclose any health conditions, injuries, or behavioural concerns (including reactivity, fear, or aggression) before services begin.
Please inform the trainer if your dog has ever bitten, attempted to bite, or received a by-law or animal control warning — this ensures appropriate safety measures are in place. -
Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations and parasite prevention.
If your dog is unwell (diarrhea, vomiting, contagious illness, injury, or heat stress), please reschedule — no penalty applies. -
You, as the guardian, remain fully responsible for your dog’s behaviour, safety, and equipment during all services.
Media Usage & Consent
-
Some sessions may be recorded (video or photos) for educational purposes, such as tracking progress, providing client feedback, or posting to your personal client page on our website.
-
We will never share recordings publicly (e.g., social media, marketing materials) without your explicit permission.
-
If you agree, select the consent option on the booking form or intake form to allow us to share select photos or videos of your dog for educational posts, promotional materials, or social media content.
-
You may withdraw this permission at any time by notifying us in writing.
Termination of Services
-
Tails Solutions reserves the right to terminate services at any time if the client is non-compliant with training recommendations, fails to adhere to force-free methods, or creates an unsafe environment for the dog, trainer, or others. No refunds will be provided for services terminated under these conditions.
Agreement to Terms
-
By booking with Tails Solutions, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms.
You confirm that you are over 18 years old or have guardian permission.
